Photo Friday

This is the last week of Souvenir Foto School: Session Three. Our assignment this session was to find an object/plant and document how it changes over six weeks. I chose the snowdrops outside my window. They broke through the snow just in time for week 1and they last exactly six weeks (I love when nature cooperates with my photos...hehe).

I hope your weekends have a little touch of spring or fall for those of you in the southern hemisphere.

A Perfect Pairing...

Souvenir Foto School has started up again on Flickr this week, I realized I never shared last sessions projects. Last time we were randomly paired up by the "instructor" Miss B.; I was paired with Michelle. We were given a word a week and had to make diptychs from it. Here are some of our pieces.

Michelle has this way of capturing light and composition beautifully. I'm so glad we got the opportunity to work together. I hope we can collaborate again someday. You can see more of her photos and designs on Flickr and on her blog.

Foto Friday

It's finals time at the Souvenir Foto School over on Flickr. We had a few options to choose from and I chose to photograph "Breakfast". It was probably my best smelling photo shoot every. I am absolutely in love with how the pear came out. I like a lot of my photos but I usually don't get too excited. I think this one is special though.

You can check out the rest of the photos on my Flickr Photostream.

Also if you haven't checked out the Souvenir Foto School. It is a must. The second session is starting soon and runs for 6 weeks this time. The assignments are always great and really push you out of that box your use to. The class and Miss B. are wonderful, a lot of helpful and great comments. Not sold yet...head over to The Blah, Blah, Blahg and see some of the examples. Can't wait for session 2.

Happy Weekend!
What are your plans?

I'm going to the Berkshires tomorrow - scenic views and an Edward Steichen show;
taking pictures at another fair;
and hopefully getting to Newport, RI (no storms in the forecast this time)

Foto Friday...a little early

So I'm a day early on this post but I am leaving for Vermont bright an early in the morning. I haven't been up there and years and I am so excited. You're on your own but I'll be back early next week sometime with some great photos to share.

This weeks Souvenir Foto School assignment was portraits. This is my self portrait.

I don't usually like to alter the image other than cropping, exposure, and levels but this photo needed it. It was a little too noisy for my liking. I decided to make it a lomo looking portrait. I tried some ready made filters but didn't like the result. I found this great post on the Digital Photo Schools website on a how to in Photoshop and I am really pleased with the result.

Have a great weekend!

Photo Friday

This week's assignment in the Souvenir Foto School was reflections. There is this great reservoir right next to the house my mom grew up in. It is usually full of lily pads but with the colder weather we have been having they are still small. I'm planning on returning to this spot in the Fall when the leaves change. I bet the reflections will be great.

Hope you all have a great weekend! I'm starting mine early with a lunch with friends today.

Photo Friday

This one is for the Photo Friday website. This week's theme was "Eyes". I took this with my Diana camera at the Big Nazo Lab in Providence, RI. They have these really fun windows of all their characters.

This one is for the Souvenir Foto School group on Flickr. The theme was "Vacation/Staycation". I found this old hotel key and knew I had to do a photo like this.
